Victor Lara

Victor Lara is an accomplished reservoir senior simulation engineer and manager with over two decades of experience in the oil and gas industry, energy transition, and subsurface modeling. He is currently the Manager of Customer Support and Consulting for the Western Hemisphere and Country Manager, USA at Computer Modelling Group Ltd. (CMG), where he leads technical consulting, customer support, and business operations across North and South America.

Lara has been overseeing all Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects performed by his team for the past three years, providing expert consulting on CO₂ sequestration, injection strategies, caprock integrity risk assessment, and storage permit applications using CMG’s GEM and STARS simulators. Additionally, he has led consulting efforts in geothermal energy extraction, helping clients assess technical and economic feasibility, optimize reservoir performance, and evaluate wellbore heat transfer effects.

Beyond energy transition, Lara has extensive experience in reservoir simulation consulting for conventional and unconventional reservoirs, specializing in history matching, enhanced oil recovery (EOR), well spacing optimization, and field development planning. He also provides specialized technical support and training to clients on CMG’s simulation software for CCUS, geothermal systems, and oil & gas reservoir modeling.

Lara holds a B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Simón Bolívar University and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE).
